This is one of the most common questions I get asked, “how much does central heating cost?” it’s also probably one of the hardest to answer, even ball park figures are very difficult to provide as there’s so many different factors involved.
But to give you an idea a typical price bracket is £1,500 to £3,000 but can be lower or higher depending on whether you live in a 2 bed semi or 4 bed detached house, how many radiators you need? What type of boiler? combi, condensing, regular? etc. etc. Recent figures released by British Gas put their average price at £3.018 but of course BG are a premium supplier and could be cheaper if you found a local supplier.
We always recommend you get at least 3 quotes, mix it with local and nationwide firms and remember to compare apples for apples, check boiler specifications and radiator sizes etc, what will it be plumbed in copper or plastic? Quotes can be obtained from Boiler Guide which is a free service that contacts suppliers on your behalf.
Whatever you do, never accept a quote without getting a full survey and written specification.
